ABOUT THE MUSIC
The prelude and offertory this Sunday are played by the St. Nicholas Chimers. The prelude is the traditional song “Alleluia”. The offertory is another traditional song “I’ve Got Peace Like A River”. The postlude for this Sunday is in honor of African-American History Month. It is “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by American composers James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) and J. Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954). The words are printed below for you to ponder.
We will have a drum circle this morning with Eric Reburn. Please join us for some fun.
Terry Foster, Church Musician
LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING
Lift every voice and sing ’til earth and heaven ring,
ring with the harmonies of liberty.
Let our rejoicing rise high as the list’ning skies.
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us.
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us.
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
let us march on ’til the victory is won.
