Hymn To Greet the Gospel: #29 – “Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross” (LEVAS)

Closing: #671 – “Amazing Grace”

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

The prelude is Meditation on “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go” by Scottish minister George Matheson (1842-1906 A.D.).  Matheson was engaged to be married at age twenty when he became blind.  His betrothed abandoned him.  He then centered his life on the love of God and later composed the hymn on which this organ meditation is based.

The offertory is “O Del Mio Amato Ben” by Italian composer Stefano Donaudy (1879-1925 A.D.).  This is a well-known song popular among serious vocalists.

The postlude is “Go Forth With Purpose” by living composer Thomas Chesterton.

Terry Foster, Church Musician
