The prelude for this Sunday is “Prelude in D” by Polish composer Moritz Brosig (1815-1887 A.D.).

The offertory is a version of “Choral Jubilate” by living American composer Ellen Westcott.  This is a joyous song celebrating God’s creation in summer with the words printed below.

Oh glorious day!  Sun shining down gold; streams flowing down free giving us what we need; they’re like a fountain rich and free.

Oh, summer day, green grass under my feet, a tiny bird who sings her praise songs so sweet.  Lord God must have made this day for me!

Warm is the sun, golden sun; blue is the sky, bright blue sky; He just made me a rainbow, turned off my gloomy day.

Today happiness is here to stay.  He drove my blues away.  It’s a very special day.  He made it just for me, just for me!  (above lines repeated)

Yes, it’s a golden sun, marvelous, bright blue sky, happiness.  God must have made this day for me!  Oh, summertime day, my summer day!

The postlude is “Fanfare” by English composer

 John Marsh (1752-1828 A.D.).

After Coffee Hour we will run through an anthem which we will sing on September 9th during church.

Please come sing “Let Everything That Have Breath” with us.

St. Nick’s at the Sea Dogs

On Wednesday, August 29th St. Nick’s is representing Scarborough for Scarborough night!  Breanna Parenteau will throw out the first ball of the game @ 6:45, and Jane Ducott will sing “God Bless America” at the 7th Inning Stretch!!  Please join our group of St. Nick’s folks at the game. Contact Nancy Agan 883-1561 so I can order tickets. Please let me know by August 22.

Be sure to look over the beautiful garden that is feeding our neighbors! Last week we harvested over 14 pounds of produce, including ½ pound of basil, ½ pound of chives, 1 ½ pounds of cucumbers, ½ pound of wax beans,

2 pounds of green beans, 7 pounds of tomatoes and

2 pounds of cherry tomatoes.

Weeders welcome!  If you have free time and would like to weed, we would be happy to have help.

(Bring bug spray and wear long sleeves and pants, though!)

Our Green Power sign-up sheet is looking a little lean.  Just as a reminder, this is an opportunity for folks to sign up to “Adopt a Month” in which to donate the $36 that is the extra we pay on our electricity bill, to support an increased portion of electricity being generated by Maine-based renewable sources. Please consider signing up for one of the remaining months, and thank you in advance for your generosity!
