ABOUT OUR GUEST SOLOIST

Today we welcome Denise Meiler as our soloist throughout the service.  Ms. Meiler is the Client Relationship Manager for Direct Travel in Portland.  She and her husband, Keith, live in Saco.  They have three children.  She is in demand as a soloist and has appeared in a number of theatrical productions.  She will sing the folk and gospel song “Wayfarin’ Stranger” as our prelude.  For offertory she will share the spiritual “Stand By Me” by Methodist minister Charles A. Tindley (1861-1933 A.D.).  For postlude she will encourage us to get on aboard the “Gospel Train”.  This song was published in 1872 by the Fisk Jubilee Singers, an early traveling singing group from Fisk University. However, it has been reported that it was sung years earlier by New Hampshire Baptist minister, John Chamberlain.  We don’t know for sure who the composer might have been.  Please welcome Ms. Meiler.

UPCOMING MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES

We will have a rehearsal of the St. Nicholas Chimers immediately after Coffee Hour this Sunday, June 3.  Next Sunday, June 10, we begin rehearsals of the St. Nicholas Folk Singers.  Please join us for one or both of these  opportunities to make music in praise of God and his creation—our beautiful world.
