This Sunday, many Episcopal churches are celebrating All Saints’ Day (often moved to the Sunday after November 1st when the day does not fall on a Sunday). As a lovely way of marking the day, I am inviting all of you who are so inclined to bring in names of those among your loved ones (family members, friends, those whom you have admired) who have died this past year.  We will hold and offer all these loved ones by speaking their names during the Eucharist followed by a special prayer. If any of you who will not be with us on Sunday but would like a loved one/loved ones remembered, please email me the name(s). I shall also be reading the Gospel lesson for All Saints’ Day.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you again.  Blessings, Lin Peyton (peytol@comcast.net)

FREE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER

Thanksgiving Scarborough is a free community meal on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 23) at Wentworth School.  The dinner with all the fixings for a traditional holiday meal is hosted by Scarborough School Nutrition Program, Scarborough Community Services, Project GRACE and many neighbors and friends in Scarborough.  All are welcome to attend this community celebration.  To learn more, and reserve your seat at the table, go to ThansgivingScarborough.org or call 730-4000.

SCARBOROUGH COMMUNITY GARDEN THANK YOU

Thanks to all who helped yesterday to clean up the Scarborough Community Garden for the winter.  We look forward to next year’s growing season, and welcome those who would like to join us!  Please contact Chris Taylor for more information.

GREEN POWER AND CLYNK BAGS

Don’t forget you can help our Green Power effort at St Nicholas by using our Clynk account to recycle your returnable bottles.  Tagged bags are in a box by the front entry (on the bookshelf).  This money helps defray the extra cost of supporting renewable sources for our church electricity use.  So when you DRINK, THINK CLYNK!

SANDPIPER FUNDRAISER

Sandpiper is having its annual gift card fundraiser for the upcoming holiday season.  You may purchase gift cards from dozens of businesses through Sandpiper and Sandpiper will get a percentage of the money!  This is an excellent way for you to get your Christmas shopping done early and benefit Sandpiper at the same time.  Buy some as gifts and some to keep for your own spending!  Information is on the table near the entrance, or speak with Lorna, Jane or Cathy.

MAKING HOLIDAYS BRIGHTER FOR OUR NEIGHBORS

Project GRACE and its partners in the community are coming together to make the holidays brighter for all this season.  Christmas gifts for children, grocery gift cards, and gifts to the fuel assistance fund are needed.  To learn more, please visit projectgracemaine.org.
